Piano
Reading music, technique, chords and playing by ear. Classical, pop, jazz basics or whatever you've been meaning to learn.
Ages 6+Guitar
Acoustic or electric. Chords, strumming, fingerpicking, riffs, and the theory that makes songs make sense.
Ages 8+Bass
Grooves, timing, reading charts and locking in with a drummer. Ideal if you're joining or starting a band.

Hi, I'm Kuanysh
I've played piano, guitar and bass for more than 15 years, and I bring that experience to every lesson, whether you're picking up an instrument for the first time or coming back to one after years away.
Students play real songs from the first weeks, alongside the fundamentals that make them possible: reading, rhythm, technique, and theory explained in plain language. I work with beginners and returning players of every age, from kids just starting out to adults who have finally decided to learn.
Questions
I'm an adult beginner. Is that okay?
Absolutely. Adults often progress quickly because they know what music they love. There's no recital requirement unless you want one.
Do I need my own instrument?
Yes. Since lessons happen at your home, you'll need your own instrument. For piano, an acoustic piano or a full-size keyboard with weighted keys works best. I'm happy to help you choose a starter guitar, bass or keyboard before you buy.
Where are lessons?
In your home, anywhere in Ballard and the neighborhoods around it. I bring the books, printouts and a small amp for bass or electric guitar if you don't have one.
Does a parent need to be home?
Yes. For students under 18, a parent or guardian needs to be home during the lesson. You don't need to sit in, but you're always welcome to.
How young can students start?
Piano from around age 6, guitar from about 8, and bass from about 10, depending on hand size and attention span. The free trial is a good way to find out.
